Replay Access through July 25
Detailed Description
And Who Should Attend
Time Travel, Technology & Tools to Facilitate Executive Function Skills
Sarah Ward, MS, CCC-SLP
Did you know that to effectively execute a task you need to time travel? This session will equip you with strategies and tech tools to develop your students/clients’ ability to “map” language to their actions and movement across time and space as a key component of effective task execution. Learn how to teach your students to develop the verbal and nonverbal language skills they need to develop situational awareness and then use “mental time travel” to move from a present state toward a future goal and to form a “Plan B” when obstacles arise.
The Importance of Self: Self-Reflection, Self-Evaluation, and Self-Regulation When Meeting Our Own Goals
Michelle Garcia Winner, MA, CCC-SLP and Dr. Pamela Crooke, PhD, CCC-SLP
Self-evaluation, self-reflection, and self-regulation while considering one’s own and others’ perspectives are important competencies which continue to evolve across each of our lives. We will define these concepts and explore how they are actively engaged when seeking to meet our own organizational and/or social goals. However, organizing ourselves to meet personal goals can be challenging at times, for each of us. We’ll demonstrate the use of a free digital collaboration and management tool through two mini case studies. The tool helps validate goals and coach pathways to organize, self-reflect, self-evaluate, and make a plan to meet personal social and organizational goals.
Who Should Attend
The Social Thinking Methodology is used by a wide variety of professionals, including speech-language pathologists, special and general education teachers, social workers, counselors, clinical and school psychologists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and school administrators to name a few. It’s also used by family members and caregivers across settings.
